Charlottesville, VA - Jakub Zivec’s injury-marred senior season at Florida State will include an NCAA postseason appearance, thanks to his 1500-meter performance Saturday night at the Virginia Challenge. Zivec ran a lifetime-best time of 3:44.32, which will assure the Czech Republic native a spot in the NCAA East Preliminary meet later this month at UNF. He is currently ranked 24th in the East, with the top 48 times in each event qualifying for the postseason.
Sophomore Zak Seddon also came into the meet hunting a qualifying mark in the steeplechase, and like Zivec, has been battling back from injury much of the season. Seddon finished fifth in a season-best 9:05.64, which leaves him 51st in the rankings. He will attempt to improve that position in the regular season finale at Georgia Tech next weekend.
First-year Seminole and former Wakulla High standout Stanley Linton placed fourth in his collegiate 10,000-meter debut (30:41.60).
