Monticello, FL -- Aucilla Christian is heading to the final four, for the first time since 1981 but the Warriors aren't letting the pressure get to them. They're approaching it just like any other game.
"it's about the same as it has been all year," senior Marcus Roberts says. "Just trying to come out here and work hard and stay humble and keep playing and doing things we know to do to keep winning."
"Just go have a blast. Whatever happens, happens. We're proud of our guys and I couldn't ask for any more than to just go down there and everybody have a big grin on their face," adds head coach Drew Sherrod.
The trip to Port St. Lucie has been a challenging one. After losing to Munroe in the district finals every playoff game this post season has been on the road, which may have been a blessing in disguise.
"We lost to district championship to them and got beat real bad. We got ten run ruled and I think it was just a wake up call for us to be ready and to know we're going to have to give everything we got the rest of the year to go anywhere after districts," adds Roberts.
"In a way I think that actually brought us together and made it so we had nothing to lose and we were just going out and having fun, playing ball," Sherrod adds.
'We all kept our heads up through bad times and hard times but kept our heads up all the time because that was all we could do," adds senior Casey Wheeler.
At this level only the best of the best remain in high school baseball, and that's who the Warriors will face in the state semifinals. They will play Brito Miami Private who have made the playoffs every year since 1993 winning five state titles along the way.
