Big Bend Volleyball Teams Survive FHSAA Semifinals

High School Volleyball served up more State Tournament action Tuesday night... The FHSAA Playoffs upped the ante with Regional Semifinals matches throughout North Florida.

Leon picked up a straight sets victory over F.W. Buchholz in Gainesville. Leon won (25-23), (30-28), (25-18).

Wakulla lost in the 4A region semifinals Tuesday in Crawfordville. The Lady War Eagles lost 3-0 to Gulf Breeze. The final went to the visitors (25-10), (25-14), (25-16).

John Paul II School lost in 5 sets to Rocky Bayou Christian out of Niceville, FL. The matchup was played at JP2's gym. After winning the first 2 sets, the Lady Panthers dropped the final 3 sets to lose in 5.

Across the street from JP2, the Florida High Lady Noles hosted Class 3A regional semifinals action against Pensacola-Catholic. Larry Sparkman's first season as head coach of Florida High came to an end Tuesday night in a 5-set thriller. Pensacola-Catholic won (25-19), (12-25), (19-25), (25-23), (15-12).

Elsewhere, Rita Buck-Crockett and the Maclay Lady Marauders made quick work of their Class 2A guests Tuesday night. Maclay defeated Liberty County (Bristol, FL) in straight sets (25-13), (25-13), (25-19).

Also in Class 2A, the Sneads Lady Pirates beat Baker County in straight sets.

The FHSAA Region Finals spike into action November 13th.
