Thomasville, GA -- May 18, 2012 --

Brookwood School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Robert East had a stunning revelation during the senior class Honors Assembly.

Every senior on the Warrior Football team is graduating with top academic honors.

“It is a testament to the work ethic of these student athletes,” East said. “It also shows how the sport of football can help fulfill the mission of Brookwood School.”

Part of that mission says that “Brookwood is committed to developing the whole child: academically, physically, spiritually, and socially.”

The Class of 2012 valedictorian is Justin Johnson, with the highest grade point average over his four years at Brookwood than any of his classmates. Johnson played wingback on offense and cornerback on defense. He won a 1,000-yards rushing award and was named an All-Region Player his senior year. Johnson will graduate summa cum laude and will attend Yale University in the fall.

Also among Brookwood's 15 summa cum laude graduates, who have maintained at least a 4.00 GPA for four years, is Chase Tenewitz, the Warriors’ center, a two-time All Region as well as All State and All Star as a senior, who will attend the University of Georgia.

Another top scholar is Chris Alexander, who will graduate summa cum laude. After serving as a leader during his junior year, he unfortunately had his season end early due to a shoulder injury. East said that Alexander’s leadership continued to contribute to the Warriors' success even as he was restricted to the sideline. He will attend the University of Virginia.

Taylor Bragg is among the eight Brookwood seniors who will graduate magna cum laude with at least a 3.67 GPA for four years. Bragg headed a Warrior offense that garnered more than 4,700 yards and 47 touchdowns in the fall season. He rushed for 1,050 yards and 20 touchdowns while passing for 367 yards and three touchdowns. He had over 2,300 career rushing yards as a three-year starter for the Warriors and scored 36 total touchdowns. Bragg was All Region, All State, and All Star and will continue his football career at Wofford College, where he plans to major in pre-med.

Also graduating magna cum laude are Paul Leonard, and Tyler Quinet.

Leonard was All Region as an offensive guard and defensive lineman. His blocking paced a running attack that totaled 4,500 yards. He will continue his education at the University of Georgia.

Quinet was All Region, All State, and All Star. He set the school single season rushing record with 1,830 yards. He will attend West Virginia University.

The 35 members of the Brookwood School Class of 2012 will graduate at 7 p.m. on May 19 at the Thomasville Municipal Auditorium with Coach Bill Curry of Georgia State University as the commencement speaker.
