It was her home away from home...
A beloved member of the Chiles Softball Family, Becca Brady was more than just a softball player on the field.
"She was always out here working at it, always out here doing something. Every practice she gave it her all. Getting down, getting dirty, balls didn't pass her, she was a leader on the field." says former teammate Austyn West.
"Becca had a passion for softball. She loved to win, didn't like to lose, and she put her heart out on the field, so it was a good fun thing to come out and watch her play. " adds her father, Hank Brady.
After a tragic accident took her life back in November of 2010, the Timberwolves softball team decided to remember The second baseman in their own way. Among family and friends, and in the midst of less than perfect weather, they officially renamed their Pre-season tournament the Becca Brady Pre-Season Classic.
Chiles Head Softball Coach, Adam Rich adds, "Oh no, we would have done it in the Gym, we would have done it somewhere, we were not going to let this pass. We may not get the event in, the Becca Brady Classic may not play until next year but we were having this event."
"We were really looking forward to it being just a beautiful day in Tallahassee, but it was in a sense that the cause was still here, and Its great that Chiles took this gesture and made this happen, call it the Becca Brady Classic, it makes a dad real proud." says Brady.
And now with Becca, and the number 23 forever watching from right-center field, her pride for Chiles Softball will never die.
