ATLANTA (AP) -- Clinch County turned three second-half turnovers
into points and beat Savannah Christian 24-14 to win the Class A
state championship.
The Panthers (15-0) recovered two fumbles at the Savannah
Christian 21-yard line in Saturday's game. Clinch County converted
the first into a 32-yard field goal by Dalton Bennett. The kick
struck the right upright but went through.
Clinch County quickly turned the second turnover into a
touchdown -- Tray Dorsey's 21-yard pass to Fred Tiller with 42
seconds left in the third period.
After an interception, Clinch quarterback Tray Dorsey's 5-yard
run sealed the win.
Damian Magby returned a punt 42 yards for Clinch County's first
score early in the second period. Savannah Christian (13-2) scored
touchdowns on passes of 19 and 89 yards from Harrison Curry to Will
Austin.
