Tallahassee, FL - Building for the fall season begins now for Leon football.

"We have the ones that want to be here and are committed to the program," Leon head football coach Bill Ragans says. "I'll go to battle with them every Friday win, lose or draw. Our kids are here and they're all committed."

With the theme surrounding practice this spring being toughness.
Coach Ragans adds, "Trying to establish some toughness and the pecking order a little bit on both sides of the ball. Who is going to try and establish themselves as starters. Getting a little bit more physical in the spring because you don't want to get hurt in the fall."

Hoping that this mindset in the spring carries over to the season in the fall.

Ragans adds, "We're going to be tough and we're going to get after each other and get after the other team in the fall. We have a lot of skilled kids back. Had a kid move in at quarterback and we have good backs and I feel like we'll be solid on defense."

The Lions enter a new district next season and will be the only team from Tallahassee, with teams from Jacksonville and Ocala providing for a challenging schedule.

Ragans adds, "It will be a challenge. We have to go to Jacksonville twice this year, three times next year. We go to Lowndes again this season so we'll be on the road against some quality opponents and we'll have some quality people coming here and get to play here at Bobby Benson field."

Don't be so quick to judge. Did you not read what he said, our schedule is tuffer than Lincoln's..that should tell you something. Lincoln will fall eventually, so don't watch out, it could be this year. Leon's football program is evolving REMEMBER that!

Evolving hell... THE BOYS ARE BACK!!! That's the theme this season. Two years ago as Freshman, Leon JR Varsity scored 200 points on offense, while only giving up 40 all season. Losing in a last second effort to Lincoln, against current QB Butler, the Leon Lions have speed, strength and power on the O Line and D Line. With the addition of former Rickards standout Tim Longmier, the Leon Lions have a great opportunity to go far this year. Again, contingent on the coaching abilities of Bill Ragans.
