Colquitt County Splits GHSA Semifinals Showdown

The Colquitt County Packers grabbed an opening baseball victory Monday night against Parkview but dropped the nightcap in GHSA State Semifinals action.

The folks in Moultrie, GA were treated to a pitcher's duel that favored the Packers after pitcher Cole Pitts helped his own cause with a solo blast in the 3rd inning of the opening game. Packers took the first game 3-0.

Game 2 saw a 2-1 Packers lead in the 3rd inning quickly turn into an 8-4 Parkview Panthers victory.

The split doubleheader means that the Packers will once again play a rubber match in the best-of-3 game series. First pitch is set for 1pm at Packer Park on Tuesday afternoon with the winner getting the chance to play for the Class 5A State Championship.

For Packers Head Coach Tony Kirkland, facing elimination in game 3 of a playoff series is nothing new for Hog Country.

"It's another game three. We went to a third game against East Cowetta, we went to a third game last week against Alpharetta. I have no doubts that they will play to their capabilities in game three." said Kirkland.
