Tallahassee, FL -- The goal from the first day of fall practice for the NFC Eagles was to get back to the state semifinals, and that's exactly where the Eagles have landed.
'We did some fall workouts and just trying to make sure that we're in shape and ready to go," senior John Nogowski says. "This was our goal all year, just to get down there and you never know what's going to happen when you get down there."
"These seniors at the beginning of the year felt like this is where they wanted to be," adds head coach Mike Posey. "We were a little disappointing last year, we didn't get a little bit farther. They worked real hard in the offseason and I think they're really comfortable."
It's their first trip to the final four since 2008 and will be looking to win their first state title since 2007. For some of the eight seniors on the roster, they remember what it took to be successful their first go around.
John Nogowski adds, "When you get down there it's nothing like you've ever experienced. It's just the atmosphere that you're in and the pressure that you have because you've worked all year to try and get there. I'm just telling them to play our game."
Their game has led them to 25 wins to just four loses.
Coach Posey adds, "We're playing well right now. Pitching real well and swinging the bat up and down the lineup. We have 28 errors in 29 games which is great. We're clicking as a team. We know we're going to face some really good teams down there so we're going to have to be on top of our game."
The Eagles will play two time defending state champion Westminister Christian Friday in the state semifinals.
