Tallahassee, FL -- November 10, 2011 --
Ty Clark, a senior at Lincoln High School, signs a Division I baseball scholarship to Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC today at 1 p.m. at the Lincoln baseball field.
Clark, who was named All State first baseman for Florida 5-A schools as a junior, was also named an All Big Bend Infielder and received his schoolʼs offense award. In 2011 he batted .417 with four homeruns, and had a slugging average of .732 and an on-base percentage of .505. He also helped the Trojans win their district championship last May. He will join the Running Bulldogs, who moved to Division 1 under head coach Rusty Stroupe, who played for the Big South Conference championship last year.
“I am excited about the opportunity to play Division I baseball under some great coaches, as well as the chance to grow academically and spiritually at a very strong Baptist university,” Clark said.
“I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point, including my coaches, teammates, teachers, parents, sister and church family who have cheered me on and off the field.”
Clark is dual enrolled at Lincoln and Tallahassee Community College. He also played for the Next Level travel team this summer and said one of his goals this year is “to help the Trojans win our
new (7-A) district championship and play for the state title.”
