Tallahassee, FL - Lily Williams can see the finish line. It's early June, her last day training in Tallahassee.
"I'm just kind of starting to get excited about all of the things I'm gonna see next year and do that are different than what I have here," said Williams, who graduated from Chiles this year. "I'm still looking forward to this summer and relaxing."
Williams is excited for the next phase in her track career: the collegiate level. She'll be running for Vanderbilt starting in August. The seven-time outdoor state champion won three golds at this year's state tournament.
"I know next year at the collegiate level I'm gonna be pretty far back as a freshman," Williams said.
But her success will be tested sooner than expected. Williams will be one of 13 high school girls nationwide competing in at the Adidas Gran Prix in New York City for the Dream Mile.
"It'll be eye-opening," she said. "I think it's definitely going to be different but hopefully it will go well."
She knows that, if anything, it will be a precursor to entering college.
"I just kind of hope to keep improving and eventually as a senior to be kind of back toward the top," she said. "Or just honestly by the end of it just be happy with how my four years went and look back on those four years like I am looking at these and be able to enjoy it."
