Madison, FL -- The state semifinals is nothing new for Madison County. The Cowboys were in the same situation last year hosting Cocoa, and last year they fell one win shy of returning to Orlando.

"It's sort of like a bad dream," says running back Tommie Young. "We think about it and look back on it and try to get better as we go and learn from our mistakes last year."

The loss to the eventual state champs might have helped Madison in the long run. The Cowboys are one point away from being undefeated.

"They learned that night that when you get to this level of the playoffs you better play that way all the time or it will cost you," adds head coach Mike Coe. "You can't make mistakes."

The Cowboys seem to have hit their stride entering the post season. In two playoff games they have not allowed an opponent to reach the endzone, and have scored 87 points.

"Every defense wants to leave with a goose egg so it feels really good. Just relief but we still have another 48 minutes to go to reach the land we want to go to," adds defensive back Deshawntee Gallon.

Coe adds, "We take a lot of pride in not letting people in the endzone and we don't go crazy if teams get a first down or find something they can hurt us with. We just try to adjust and fix it."

Last week Madison County beat Trinity Christian, the defending class 1A state champ. This Friday the Cowboys travel to Ocala to play Trinity Catholic, the defending class 2B state champion.
