Tallahassee, FL - People ask Mike McGrotha all the time, 'Why do you keep running these camps at your age?' For him, it's an easy answer.
"I love basketball," he said. "I love helping kids get better. And, plus, when you see the joy in kids improving or making a shot, it makes it all worthwhile."
McGrotha is finishing up his seventh year running a summer basketball camp at Premier Fitness. About 100 kids each summer attend one of four sessions.
His camps are designed to teach the basic fundamentals of the game.
Durim Barthi has been a mainstay since he was 7 years old. He's now in 8th grade and will try to make the high school junior varsity team for the second straight season.
"It just teaches you fundamentals, which helps you get better, and improve your game on the court," Barthi said.
