North Florida Christian had playoffs on the line Friday night against Providence.
Robert Craft's Eagles were jumped on early by Providence. The visitors had a 10-0 lead at halftime.
The second play from scrimmage in the second half resulted in a fumble by NFC quarterback Matt Dobson. Providence marched down the field and scored on a 5-yard run from Cameron Davis to take a 17-0 lead.
The Eagles didn't give up... After a series of bubble screens from Dobson to Travis Blank and Branton Lee, the Eagles flew to the endzone for the first time all game. Dobson threw the screen to Branton Lee and just before the defense reached him, Lee launched it deep to Josh Atkins who scored on the 50 yard strike.
However, NFC lost tonight 24-13 in the game. With the loss, NFC will miss the State Playoffs, snapping the longest active playoff streak in the Sunshine State. For the first time since 1992, the Eagles will not fly into the postseason.
