Tallahassee, FL - At eight in the morning on Wednesday, a couple of hours after sunrise, players from Florida High hit the practice field for day three of training camp. Coach Jarrod Hickman spots some tired faces and quickly rings out "Wake Up!" to get the attention of his athletes.
There's new life around this Florida High team. It's a new beginning. Because last year they experience something they haven't felt in a long time. They missed the playoffs and finished the season 4-6, the first time their season was cut short in eight years.
This season, the team is living by the words accountability, responsibility and acceptability. They've realized that the work they put into practice and during gameday will provide better results.
Hickman is pleased with what he's seen thus far.
"I think mentally we've been very sharp and we've done about all we can do so far," he said. "So we're just anxious to get through one more day, be sharp today, and then get ready for pads tomorrow."
Thursday is day one of pads for all Florida schools.
"It's going pretty good," Senior Runningback Kesean Lewis said. "We're getting better everyday. So, just getting better and seeing that we can do this and probably go far this year."
