Thomasville, GA - Thomas County Central Head Coach Bill Shaver knew he would have a lot to replace on offense going into this season. The entire offensive line and a tight end were gone to graduation.
Adam Choice is especially cognizant of the change. The junior will be under center for the second straight year.
"We got those guys in the weight room and they're working hard," Choice said of the linemen. "They're trying to step up and earn their position."
"They're gonna have to grow up really fast," Shaver said. "But we're gonna count on our defense. We've got eight guys back to kind of try to hold the fort down until that young offensive line can get their sealegs under them."
Choice has high expectations for himself despite the loss of so many starters on offense.
"Last year it was a bit of an adjustment. The JV games to the Varsity level.," he said. "But, I think I took it very well and now I have an idea of what to expect."
That's why Shaver hopes the defense will step up.
"I just really want to be a leader," said Jalen Sneed, a senior defensive tackle. "Just trying to come out here and show the guys I want to be the senior leader this year and I really just want to lead this team to a state title."
