Tallahassee, FL - Among his Maclay teammates, Tripp Transou is just one of the guys. He's competitive, passionate and just a kid having fun. But Transou is doing something unlike any other player before him. He will play for the Duke Blue Devils, one of the top division-one lacrosse teams in the country.

"Even the opportunity to talk to those coaches was amazing," he said. "I never really expected it coming into the whole process."

The 5'7" midfielder is only accepting a walk on invitation. It's an opportunity that was offered while playing for the Long Island Sting, a summer travel team based out of New York.

Transou will become the first major division-one player from the Tallahassee metropolitan area. Maclay head coach Mike Jones says more colleges are showing interest in his kids.

"It's gonna open a lot of more pathways in the future and possibly in our immediate future, as well," Jones said.

In two years, Teddy Transou will follow his brother's footsteps. The sophomore has already committed Duke.

"I hope it opens up different lines of recruiting for different kids and that they can do it," Tripp Transou said. "Everyone can do what they want to do and go to whatever school they want to go to. It just takes a lot of hard work."
