MIAMI (AP) -- A person familiar with the decision says
80-year-old Jack McKeon has been hired as interim manager of the
Florida Marlins.

The person confirmed the hiring Monday to The Associated Press
on condition of anonymity because the team had yet to announce the
move. A news conference was scheduled for 3 p.m. EDT.

McKeon becomes the second-oldest manager in major league
history. Connie Mack managed the Philadelphia Athletics until 1950,
when he was 87.

McKeon returns to the Florida dugout six years after he retired
at age 74. Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez resigned Sunday with the
last-place team in a prolonged slump.
Florida started the week with 10 consecutive losses and a 1-18
record in June.
