VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State, in just its second season of competition, will compete in the field of 48 teams in the NCAA Division II National Soccer Tournament.
The Blazers will face North Alabama (12-5-1) for the right to play top seed West Florida (19-1) in the second round. Valdosta State earned the fifth seed while UNA sits fourth.
While the Gulf South Conference claimed the first, fourth and fifth seeds, the Sunshine State Conference claimed the rest with Tampa (13-3-4) in the third slot facing off against Barry (7-6-2) as the sixth seed. The winner will face second seed Rollins (12-4-2).
Valdosta State’s match against North Alabama will take place in Pensacola, Fla., hosted by West Florida on Friday. The winner will face the Argonauts on Sunday for the right to face the survivor of Rollins, Tampa or Barry.
In the only match between Valdosta State and North Alabama this season, the Lions prevailed in Valdosta, 4-3.
