VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State fans have the chance to help one of their own make the National Football League's Pro Bowl as fans can now vote for former Blazer Larry Dean to make the NFL's All-Star game.
Dean currently leads the Minnesota Vikings with seven special teams tackles and has been a key blocker for the Vikings all season. He had key blocks in both a 15-yard kick-off return by Percy Harvin as well as a 77-yard punt return by Marcus Sherels against Detroit on September 30.
In order to vote for Dean, Blazer fans are encouraged to visit the NFL's Pro Bowl ballot at http://www.nfl.com/probowl/ballot?module=HP11_content_stream_voting_probowl. The fan vote counts for a third of the selection process, along with a third by a vote of the NFL coaches and the final third from the NFL players. Fans can vote as often as they like for the award.
Dean graduated from Valdosta State in 2011 after becoming the Blazers' all-time leader in tackles, a mark that highlighted his four-year career that culminated in him being named the National Defensive Player of the Year.
