VALDOSTA, Ga. - Adam Froman has been named the quarterbacks coach for the Valdosta State football team, according to an announcement made by Blazer Head Coach David Dean Tuesday.
Froman brings a wealth of knowledge to the VSU squad as he spent the last two seasons as an offensive assistant for LSU. With the Tigers, Froman assisted with the quarterbacks and running backs. His duties included breaking down film and assisting in game plan meetings as well as charting opponents' defenses during game action.
"We are excited to add Adam to our staff," said Dean in making the announcement. "He brings a lot of knowledge and will be a great addition to our football program."
Froman enjoyed a standout collegiate career, both at the junior college and NCAA Division I level. He began his playing days at Santa Rosa (Calif.) Junior College, where he earned All-American honors and was named the NorCal Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2008. He passed for 3,876 yards and 40 touchdowns that season while leading Santa Rosa to a final ranking of No. 10.
After Santa Rosa, Froman went on to play for the University of Louisville. In two seasons with the Cardinals, he completed 243-of-403 passes, a 60.3 completion percentage, for 2,987 yards and 17 touchdowns in 17 games.
After graduating from Louisville with a degree in Communications, Froman signed a free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football Leauge. He also spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League as well as the 2012 season with the Spokane Shock of the Arena Football League, with whom he appeared in five games and completed 48-of-69 passes for 456 yards and five touchdowns.
In addition to his coaching experience at LSU, Froman has also served as quarterbacks coach at a pair of nationally prominent camps in California.
"Adam brings a lot of experience and different idea from all of the places he has been," Dean concluded. "He is a good technician when it comes to teaching the game and will provide us with new ideas as we move forward with our quarterbacks in particular and offense in general."
