Brimingham, AL - Brittany Ferguson earned her second Gulf South Conference Player of the Week award in the past three weeks and her third of the season for leading Valdosta State to victories over Nova Southeastern and Palm Beach Atlantic to end 2011.
Ferguson averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and two blocked shots as VSU went on to beat NSU, 64-54, and dominate Palm Beach Atlantic, 64-48. As she paced the Lady Blazers in points and rebounds, she also led Valdosta State in steals with eight on the week, well on her way to a conference-leading 31 steals.
In just 26 minutes of play against Palm Beach Atlantic, Ferguson scored 18 points with four steals and two blocks. She was six of eight from the free throw line and six of 11 from the field.
Against Nova Southeastern, Ferguson notched her third double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She also finished with three assists, four steals and two blocks.
Ferguson continues to star for Valdosta State, averaging 16.6 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game, both team highs.
Thursday night she will lead Valdosta State in the team’s Gulf South Conference opener against Delta State at 6 p.m. at The Complex.
