VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Gulf South Conference Tournament field is set. Valdosta State will go in as the second seed from the GSC East and will face Ouachita Baptist, the third seed from the GSC West, at 12 p.m. Friday.
The Tigers of OBU enter the tournament at 21-23 overall and 16-13 in the conference. The Blazers are 34-8 overall with a 19-7 conference record.
In Valdosta State and Ouachita Baptist’s only meeting this season, the Blazers won a 1-0 game. Now the two meet up in the first round of the GSC Tournament while fourth seed from the East North Alabama will face Arkansas Tech, the top seed from the West.
Henderson State, the fourth seed from the West, will face the GSC East’s top seed, Alabama-Huntsville. The remaining seeds from both sides, West Alabama and Arkansas-Monticello will complete the first round games.
Both VSU baseball and softball will be broadcast on Talk 92.1 throughout the weekend. Blazer softball will be broadcast at both noon and 2:30 p.m. Friday while baseball will be on at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Softball will be broadcast again at noon and 2:30 p.m. Saturday while baseball will finish the day, starting at either 5:15 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
Finally, in the case that VSU Softball plays for the GSC Championship, the game will be broadcast at noon. If an additional game is needed, it will be broadcast at 2:30 p.m., both on Talk 92.1.
