Star football player Greg Reid no longer plays for the Seminoles after getting in trouble with the law. But could the Valdosta State Blazers become his new team?

We have all seen Reid make big plays on the field, but it was his actions off the field that got him dismissed from the team this week.
Now he needs to find a new college team to play his final season before making a run at the NFL draft, and it could be at VSU. Now Reid is the talk of the campus.

Brittany Hewitt is a VSU Junior. She says, "I don't feel like you should be able to just walk on to the team just because you have the skill when clearly you have poor judgement."

Columbus Washington is a VSU Freshman. He says, "Adding him as a cornerback and as a special teams person, that's an all star team right there. (With Reid) VSU has a chance at a championship."

VSU's Sports Information Director Shawn Reed says the former FSU star has reached out to VSU's defensive backs coach over the phone and expressed interest in joining their football program, but there is no decision yet.

In a SKYPE interview Wednesday we asked Reid what comes next. "I don't want to sit out a year and go to a university. I want to play football every year. But I haven't really thought about it," Reid said.

Valdosta is Reid's home town. He played football for the Lowndes Vikings in High School. We talked with some flag football players, who played against Reid for the Valdosta Wildcats in the Winnersville Classic.

VSU Sophomore Kenneth Washington said, "And the first play of the game they threw a pass to him and he was gone."

Seymond Floyd, VSU Sophomore said, "I think once Greg proves himself to the coaches to let them know he's more than what happened in the past. I think the coaches will see past that."

In 2011 Reid was arrested for lying to police about the whereabouts of his scooter. Those charges were later dropped. Last month Reid was arrested for driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana. Reid will be arraigned in court for the July charges September 5th.

While VSU is a logical pick for Reid, there is some speculated he may be looking at West Georgia University in Carollton, Ga. as well.
