No. 1 AASU Knocks Down VSU

Savannah, GA - Against the top women’s tennis team in the country, Valdosta State was swept Friday. The Lady Blazers fell, 9-0, to No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic State to drop to 2-10 on the year.

Against four of the top five players in the country, Valdosta State failed to earn a set. Sarah Braun and Jahyna Pope fell, 6-1, 6-0 while Leslie Roberge lost, 6-0, 6-0. In the second spot, Alina Nagel fell, 6-3, 6-2, while Nicole Hernandez lost, 6-1, 6-1 in the third slot. Jessica Tuggle fell in the fourth position, 6-0, 6-2.

Earlier in the day, the Lady Blazers faced Armstrong Atlantic in doubles and failed to earn a point there as well. In second and third doubles, teams of Hernandez and Tuggle and Roberge and Pope fell, 8-0. Braun and Nagel were able to take a few games to fall, 8-3.

The Valdosta State women will next face off against West Georgia on April 2 in Valdosta.
