Birmingham, AL - Valdosta State’s Tania Tauiliili was named the Gulf South Conference’s East Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Tauiliili has been a force at the net her entire career at VSU, but she put together one of her best weeks last week to claim the honor.
In a single match against Alabama-Huntsville, Tauiliili was in on nine blocks, a career high. She led the Blazers on their way to 19 blocks for the match, a season high for VSU.
She wasn’t done there. In an important match against North Alabama, Tauiliili posted four block assists and a solo to help the Blazers outblock the Lions.
Thanks to the work of Tauiliili and Arielle Parnell, Valdosta State’s blocking has improved throughout the season and seems to be clicking as the team heads into the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
