Valdosta, GA - Valdosta State dropped to 13-11 on the season with a 3-0 loss to Eckerd Saturday (25-20, 25-23, 25-15). Katie Onushko stood out for VSU with a team high 11 kills and just one error for an outstanding .435 attacking percentage.
In addition to Onushko, Tania Tauiliili was second on the team in kills with eight while Destiny Berry led the team in attacking percentage with a .500 for six kills. Lelalelei Nomura also added six kills while Nikki McDaniel finished with five.
Ashley Lala continues her pace with 30 assists while Krista Bradford had nine digs. Nomura added eight and McDaniel had seven digs.
Valdosta State made a good showing in the first set with a .273 team attacking percentage and 12 kills, then finished just two points behind in the second set with 14 kills. Despite hitting the team's highest attacking percentage with a .318 in the third set, the Blazers fell by the most, 25-15.
For Eckerd, Lindsay Biggs led with 22 kills. No other Triton had more than seven. Madison Burr gave out 30 assists while Emily Schadow added 11. Kaleigh Humphrey led Eckerd with 10 digs. Eckerd improved to 14-7 with the win.
The Blazers return to action against North Alabama at 7 p.m. Friday at The Complex.
