Valdosta, GA - After starting the season with a perfect 10-0 record, 4-0 in Gulf South Conference play, the Valdosta State men’s tennis team moves up to first in the nation and south region.
Last season the team went to the National Championship match, but fell to Barry. In the first rankings this season, Valdosta State was second to Barry nationally and regionally, but in the newest rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, VSU passed up the Bucs of Barry for the top spot.
The impetus for such a move for VSU had to be a convincing 7-2 victory over Barry on February 25 in which Valdosta State won all but one singles point and one doubles point.
The Blazers are set to face No. 20 Cameron and No. 16 Ouachita Baptist this weekend before traveling to Savannah, Ga. to face No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State Friday, March 25.
