Valdosta, GA - In Valdosta State’s most important match of the season, West Florida proved to be too much. The Argos moved to 5-1 in the Gulf South Conference and dropped VSU to 5-2 with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) victory.
With first place in the GSC East up for grabs, the Blazers could only muster 26 kills. Ruthie King led the team with six kills on the night, but the most efficient Blazer was Tania Tauiliili with five kills and only one error on 12 attacks for a .333 attacking percentage to lead the team.
Hope Ripsam passed out 14 assists while Emelia Saulter gave 11. Irene Hannan led in digs with 13 while Chelsea Luttfring and King tallied eight and seven respectively.
Katie Johnson led West Florida with 12 kills while Chelsea Wilhoite struck for 10 kills. Anna Stoecklein paced the Argos in digs with 15 while Wilhoite and Johnson got under 13 and 10 respectively.
The Blazers will look to bounce back against West Alabama at 1 p.m. Saturday in The Complex.
