Valdosta, Georgia - Since the football program's existence - that's since 1982 - Valdosta State hasn't had its own practice facility. It would take hours each week just to go to and from their usual off-campus practice grounds. On Friday, that officially changed.
The football and first-year women's soccer teams were gifted with a state-of-the-art practice facility including one turf and two grass fields.
"The reason that we have this field is because of the sacrifices that they [players] made and given us an opportunity to win through the years," said VSU head football coach David Dean.
"It's a motivating factor in the fact that you can't make any excuses that you don't have the tools that are in place. They're in place," said VSU women's soccer coach Mel Heinz.
