VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State put on a dominating performance against Shorter, winning, 1-0, to improve to 10-1-1 on the season. The loss dropped Shorter to 2-9-1 on the year. Kim Caitlin Alderman notched her second game winner in as many matches when she scored for Valdosta State in the 22nd minute. The goal would prove to be all VSU needed for the victory.

Carolina Moore pushed the ball ahead from the back third and found Alderman on the left side. Alderman was able to slide the ball past the left side of Shorter goalkeeper Katie Stachula.

Outside of that, the Blazers took nine other shots in the first frame, placing one more on goal. The other VSU shot on goal came from midfielder Lauren Hale. Freshman forward Erin Hill took two shots that didn’t make it on goal but just missed.

Shorter only managed one shot in the first half, that coming from Aline Bez Tamiosso.
There were eight fouls in the first half, five from Shorter. Valdosta State took two corner kicks while Shorter had one.

Valdosta State was nearly as aggressive in the second half as it was in the first. The Blazers took nine shots while limiting Shorter to just one, bringing the total shot count to 19-2 in favor of VSU. Valdosta State put two more shots on goal in the second half, one from Lauren Ingram and one from Blakely McClellan.

The VSU defense kept goalkeeper Olivia Mills clear all day as she did not need to make a save to improve her record to 10-1-1.

Valdosta State, unbeaten since September 21, will look to keep the streak going as the Blazers take to the road the next four matches. Valdosta State will face West Alabama at 5 p.m. Friday and will return home to face West Alabama again at 4:30 p.m. October 26.
