VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State golf team learned Friday evening that the Blazers will be one of 10 teams out of the NCAA South Region to compete in South/Southeast Super Regional at Victoria Hills Golf Club in Deland, Fla. May 2-4.
The Blazers enter the Super Regional Tournament as the No. 7 seed out of the South Region. GSC Champion West Florida was the No. 1 seed, followed by No. 2 Lynn, No. 3 Barry, No. 4 North Alabama, No. 5 Nova Southeastern, which won the Sunshine State Conference championship, and No. 6 Florida Southern. Also making it out of the South Region is No. 8 Rollins, No. 9 Delta State and No. 10 Florida Tech.
Joining the South Region teams will be the Southeast's Georgia College, Barton, Armstrong Atlantic, Columbus State, Newberry, UNC Pembroke, Flagler, Queens, USC-Aiken and Belmont Abbey. Four individuals from each region who do not compete on a team that advanced to the Super Regional will also play in the field.
The top five teams from each Super Regional site, as well as the top two student-athletes not on a team that advances, will advance to the NCAA Championships at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals course in Florence, Ala. May 16-20.
