Georgia DNR Ranger Captain Jeff Swift from Albany, Georgia took his wife, Sherry, and daughters Amanda and Jennifer on an off shore fishing trip on Saturday. They were guests of Major Alan Lamarche of Plantation Security, Inc. The ladies had fished all of their lives but it was always in ponds, rivers and lakes. They had never caught or seen such huge fish, and they couldn't believe it when Alan said that they had to throw them back "...because the Feds closed the season, they say these Gags are only here in our imagination."

They fished in about 50'-60' deep water south of Shell Point, where they caught and released 21 oversized Gags and brought home a limit of Red Grouper and Snapper. They didn't catch an undersized Gag Grouper all day.

Alan said that, when Captain Swift said that he would like to take three ladies off-shore fishing for their first time, he was rather apprehensive, but it didn't take long to convince him that this was one of the toughest and most enthusiastic crews he's ever had fishing.

Alan's grandson, Lil' Daniel Lamarche served as First Mate and earned the title of "Best in the Fleet."
