Hunting Accident in Apalachicola National Forest

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is investigating a hunting accident that occurred this morning near CR 375 (also known as Smith Creek Highway) in Wakulla County in the Apalachicola National Forest.

There were two hunters turkey hunting (the spring season is open) in the same area but they did not know each other.

About 11:30 a.m. EST Troy Lollie, DOB 7/28/80, Hosford was calling to a gobbler when he was shot one time by Christopher Wiley, DOB 12/02/51, Seffner, FL from a distance of approximately 50 yards. Lollie was hit by a number of pellets in the upper body.

Wiley immediately went to Lollie’s aid and drove him to meet an ambulance. Lollie was subsequently flown by Life-Flight to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The accident is under investigation by FWC.
