Details of Proposed National Wildlife Refuge and Conservation Area in Florida to be announced on Wednesday, Sept. 7
Please join the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, near Kissimmee, Florida for an announcement of the detailed proposal and next steps for the Everglades Headwaters National Wildlife Refuge and Conservation Area.
Who: In addition to the Service, agencies and organizations represented will be the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, the U.S. Department of Defense, The Nature Conservancy, and the National Wildlife Refuge Association.
When: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7
Where: The Nature Conservancy’s Disney Wilderness Preserve, 2700 Scrub Jay Trail, Kissimmee, FL 34759.
Photo and video ops: A swamp buggy tour will be available immediately following the news conference.

Directions from I-4:
Exit onto Hwy. 535 and head south.
Follow 535 to Poinciana Blvd. Turn right (south) onto Poinciana Blvd.
Follow Poinciana Blvd. approximately 15 miles until you reach the intersection of Poinciana Blvd. and Pleasant Hill Road. Turn right onto Pleasant Hill Rd.
Continue to the first stop light, which is Dover Plum.
Turn left onto Dover Plum and continue until you come to the second stop sign, which is at the end of Dover Plum.
Turn right and shortly thereafter turn left at the first left drive onto Scrub Jay Trail following it into the preserve to the parking lot.
