Winnie Wright brings you all the latest from South Georgia. Born in Springfield, Illinois and raised in Rome, Georgia, Winnie is happy to be sticking close to her Georgia roots.
Winnie graduated from The University of Alabama in 2012 with honors. She studied Mass Communications and Political Science with a focus in International Studies. Winnie is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, The Golden Key Society, and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, amongst other honor societies.
Before becoming a Multimedia Journalist at WCTV, she was a Crimson Belle, or Student Athlete Recruiter, with The University of Alabama, a news intern with Fox 6, WBRC in Birmingham, a Student Reporter and Producer with WVUA in Tuscaloosa, and after the EF4 tornado ripped through her college town, Winnie became a Guest Blogger for CNN, sharing stories of struggle and hope in Tuscaloosa.
Winnie enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog Bear.
She joined the Eyewitness News Team in October of 2013 as a Multi-Media Journalist out of the Valdosta Bureau and looks forward to bringing you all the latest from South Georgia and North Florida.
