The 18th annual Rivers Alive Cleanup will be held Saturday and volunteers are needed to wade into four different Lowndes County waterways to pick up litter.
Several groups and organizations have already committed to various cleanup sites.
But, officials with Keep Lowndes-Valdosta Beautiful believe more people need to participate.
"At the last Rivers Alive Cleanup we had 149 volunteers and we collected almost five tons of stuff and this year we're hoping for about 150 to 175 volunteers," said Aaron Strickland, executive director of Keep Lowndes-Valdosta Beautiful. "We're almost there but not quite there."
Volunteers can expect to spend three hours picking up anything from plastic bags to soda bottles.
