In honor of this milestone, the Tallahassee restaurant, today located at 2727 N Monroe St., will feature a special anniversary menu supporting the Children’s Home Society of Florida from Sept. 7-21. The Melting Pot of Tallahassee will offer guests a special four-course menu, which includes cheese fondue, salad, a chef-selected entrée and chocolate fondue for $35. Guardian ad Litem Volunteer Training

Guardians ad Litem are citizens who volunteer to represent children before the court, social service agencies, and the community. Volunteers are trained and supervised by program staff, including attorneys. On average, Guardians ad Litem devote approximately 8-10 hours a month and create relationships that can make a huge impact on children’s lives. To become a guardian ad litem, you must be at least twenty-one years old and pass a criminal background. Young adults nineteen or twenty years old may become certified and are allowed to work under the guidance of and in partnership with a guardian ad litem twenty-one or above. You must complete a total of 30-hours of pre-service training program to be certified, which includes independent study, classroom training, and field work.

Beautiful handmade and machine sewn fiber artworks are on display at the annual quilt show at the Museum of Florida History. The show is organized by Quilters Unlimited of Tallahassee and is in its 33rd year. Awards are given in various categories, including a yearly “Challenge Quilt” theme. The theme this year is “Starry Starry Night.” Visitors can vote for their favorite quilt, take part in a silent auction, or talk to the quilters in the exhibit.
