Town Hall: A Report on How Suwannee County Schools Are Failing Its Children
Triumph Church Fellowship Hall, 410 Taylor Avenue, Live Oak, FL
The Suwannee Branch of the NAACP has invited the Southern Poverty Law Center to brief parents and guardians of County students, as well as other concerned citizens, on how the practices of Suwannee County Schools are failing local children.
SPLC’s Policy and Legislative Director David Utter and Co-Director of Advocacy Christine Henderson will lead a discussion on Suwannee County’s policies and practices that push hundreds of students out of the classroom and into the school-to-prison pipeline. This unfair practice too often leads to academic underperformance, juvenile arrests and detention. Recently gathered data will show how inequitable discipline effects children’s well-being now and in the future.
All NAACP members and the general public are invited to attend. Hot fried fish and fries will be served.
