Walk to Remember
5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
St. Paul's United Methodist Church
On Thursday, October 17th families will gather together at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to celebrate the lives of their babies who are no longer with us at the annual Walk to Remember. This is a free event for parents/families experiencing the loss of a pregnancy or infant.
The Walk to Remember event is held each year to observe National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. The Walk is dedicated to our local grieving families and to their departed children. It is attended by 200 people each year. All families and their friends in our community are welcome to participate at no cost. St. Paul’s United Methodist Church is located at 1700 North Meridian Road. There is plenty of parking located in the church parking lot.
While enjoying food and beverages that evening from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Sanders Hall, guests can write a message on a remembrance quilt square and have the opportunity to have their babies’ names read aloud during the memorial service. Grief counselors will be provided at the reception. The service will be held in the sanctuary from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. County Commissioner Nick Maddox will read the proclamation. At 7:30 p.m., bagpipes will play “Amazing Grace” as participants walk around Lake Ella in a candlelit ceremony paying tribute to our lost babies. Performers include the Tallahassee Pipe Band and Voces Angelorum. Children’s daycare will be held in the church nursery.
