14th Annual Culture to Culture Holiday Rock-a-Thon Celebration

Date(s): 12/7/2013

9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

John G. Riley Center/Museum, 419 East Jefferson Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32301
The general public is invited to kickoff the holiday season on Saturday, December 7, 2013 with the John G. Riley Museum during its 14th Annual Culture to Culture Holiday Rock-A-Thon Celebration from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the John G. Riley Center/Museum located at 419 East Jefferson Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32301.

The Rock-a-Thon is one of the Riley Museum’s signature fundraising events, featuring children’s activities, such as a bounce house, fire truck and live petting zoo (compliments of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission), as well as a holiday marketplace with a fantastic assortment of handcrafted merchandise to help fulfill all your holiday shopping needs.

With an array of cultural enrichment, special holiday treats and plenty of great food, the Riley Rock-a-Thon is the one place you can stop, shop, sit and enjoy live performances from the Filipino Association Caroling Ensemble, the Mau-Oli-Oli Hawaiian/East Indian Dance Troupe, the Tallahassee Shelter Band, the TCC Dance Program, and Miss Aurora’s Little Ballerinas just to name a few! The Rock-a-Thon will commence with a funky-fresh Zumba class with Tallahassee’s Zumba Divas and conclude with a stepping-stroll by members of the Tallahassee National Pan-Hellenic Chapter of “divine nine” fraternities and sororities.

Over thirty (30) local organizations will engage in a rocking-chair marathon in order to raise money to benefit the maintenance cost of the Riley Museum and its heritage education programs. Door prizes will be given away every 10 minutes to the general public and include gift certificates from local businesses.

96.1FM Jamz radio personality, Joe Bullard, will emcee this fun-filled family event featuring some of Tallahassee’s best and brightest. Plus a very special guest from the North Pole is expected to make an appearance for both the young and the young at heart!
