Dr. Brian R. Rucker will be presenting his new book, Treasures of the Panhandle: A Journey Through West Florida, which explores each of the 12 panhandle counties and highlights their historical and ecological treasures. Calhoun County and adjacent counties are featured in this profusely illustrated book which makes an excellent Christmas present for those interested in exploring our own local heritage we have in West Florida. Local photographer Elam Stoltzfuz also contributes some of his wonderful photos to this celebration of our panhandle’s beautiful and historic sites

The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement is a living museum documenting rural life in NW Florida since the early 1800’s. It is located in Sam Atkins Park, about 1 mile west of the intersection of Hwy 71 and Hwy 20. Follow Hwy 20 West out of Blountstown. Look for signs for Sam Atkins Park. Turn North at Lindy’s Fried Chicken, Silas Green St. (between 18th & 20th St.). Follow the signs.
