Healthy Hearts for Healthy Futures Luncheon
Feb 1, 2013 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Capital City Country Club, 1601 Golf Terrace, Tallahassee
The purpose of the luncheon is to raise awareness about the number one killer of men and women in the U.S. -- heart disease... and offer tips for management and prevention. According to the Centers for Disease Control, about 600,000 people die of heart disease every year. Heart disease affects men and women at similar rates, but the symptoms can be different.
The luncheon speaker is Jose Rodriguez, M.D., an associate professor at The Florida State University College of Medicine and a family physician at Neighborhood Medical Services.
This event, presented by the Kappa Alpha Psi Guide Right Foundation of Tallahassee and the Tallahassee Silhouettes, kicks off American Heart Month, which was first designated by Congress in 1963. It's being held on what the American Heart Association calls National Wear Red Day.®
Proceeds support the Foundation Scholarship Fund for young men in the Guide Right mentoring program. Donation: $25. Remember to wear something red!
