The “Run for the Cookies”, a partnership between the Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle and Gulf Winds Track Club, will take place on a flat and fast course. The 5K and One mile Run/Walk provide something for all ages and fitness levels. Families, individuals, troops and groups are invited to participate. Awards are provided in several age categories. Special recognition is given to the Girl Scout Troop with the most entrants. The college fraternity or sorority with the most finishers receives a free weekend at Camp, and the school team with the most finishers in the One Mile Run/Walk will receive a pizza party.
Participants can register online at RaceIt.com, or at the early registration and packet pick-up at Capital City Runners on Wednesday, February 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. located at 1866 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee. The race flier is also available on the Girl Scouts’ website at www.gscfp.org. The entry fee for early 5K registration is $15, and includes a T-shirt and the runner’s choice of a box of Girl Scout cookies. The One Mile entry fee is $10 and includes a race T-shirt. Day-of-race 5K registration costs $18 and the One Mile fee is $10. Registration on February 9 begins at 7:30 a.m. in the TCC Lifetime Sports Complex.
Proceeds from the Run for the Cookies help to underwrite the Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandles' destination travel program. This program assists girls in covering the costs associated with the educational experiences and adventures of Girl Scouting. The girls will earn a portion of the funds needed to cover their travel expenses through service in the community; however, they still need your support to make their educational travel a reality.
