3rd Thursday Programs offer an opportunity to visit the Museum of Florida History in the evening once a month. The program, music, and parking are free. A local restaurant caters food for $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.
At 7:00 p.m., Dr. Charlotte M. Porter instructs listeners on the artistic past of Florida’s landscape in a discussion titled, “Nature and Art in the Florida Landscape." Dr. Porter is the curator of the Florida Museum of Natural History, a retired University of Florida professor, and the author of The Eagle’s Nest: Natural History and American Ideas and William Bartram’s Florida: A Naturalist’s Vision.
The lecture is funded by the Florida Humanities Council and is in association with the Museum’s current exhibit, Reflections: Paintings of Florida 1865-1965, From the Collection of Cici and Hyatt Brown. The Museum of Arts and Sciences, Daytona Beach organized the exhibit.
Music will be provided by Lis and Lon Williamson, singing traditional Florida and Americana music.
