Are Biofuels Good For The Environment?

Many of us have felt the pain at the pump in recent years as oil prices have surged because of increasing demand and lower refining capacity. Now, a new research study says biofuels may not be the answer to our problem.

The February 8th edition of the journal "Science" says more carbon is tossed into the atmosphere when natural ecosystems are converted to croplands to produce ethanol, for example. The authors of the study told that agricultural and manure waste may be better ways to create biofuels instead of using the land.
