Keaton Beach Tornado- NWS report

EF-2 TORNADO DAMAGE CONFIRMED IN TAYLOR COUNTY...

A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STORM SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN TAYLOR
COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON AROUND KEATON BEACH. THE TORNADO THAT WAS
CONFIRMED MOVED ASHORE INTO COASTAL TAYLOR COUNTY AT KEATON BEACH AT
APPROXIMATELY 836 AM EST. DAMAGE STARTED ALONG KEATON BEACH
DRIVE...JUST SOUTH OF BEACH ROAD...AND CONTINUED TO MARINA ROAD
WHERE THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED. ONLY SPORADIC TREE
DAMAGE WAS NOTED JUST NORTHEAST OF MARINA ROAD. NO ADDITIONAL
DAMAGE WAS REPORTED OR SURVEYED IN TAYLOR COUNTY WITH THIS TORNADO.

AT KEATON BEACH...
15 HOMES WERE DAMAGED WITH 1 HOME ESSENTIALLY DESTROYED. THE HOUSE
THAT WAS DESTROYED WAS ON MARINA ROAD. THIS HOUSE SUFFERED COMPLETE
ROOF FAILURE WITH TWO EXTERIOR WALLS COLLAPSING. THE DAMAGE AT THIS
LOCATION WAS RATED EF-2 WITH WINDS OF 120 MPH. OTHER HOMES BETWEEN
MARINA DRIVE AND KEATON BEACH DRIVE SUFFERED MINOR TO MODERATE ROOF
DAMAGE...WHICH WAS RATED EF-1 WITH WINDS RANGING BETWEEN 95 AND 105
MPH. SEVERAL DECKS ON THESE HOMES FAILED. A FEW SMALL BOATS WERE
LOFTED INTO THE AIR...ONE MOVED OVER 100 FEET. 2 INJURIES WERE
REPORTED AT KEATON BEACH.

BASED ON THE AREA SURVEYED...THE PATH WIDTH OF THIS TORNADO WAS 200
YARDS WITH A PATH LENGTH OF 0.4 MILES.

THE INITIAL TORNADO WARNING ON THIS STORM WAS ISSUED AT 819 AM EST.
THE TORNADO CAME ASHORE INTO TAYLOR COUNTY AT 836 AM EST.
