Tropical Storm Dean was upgraded from Tropical Depression Four late Tuesday morning.

Forecasters say Dean remains far from land, at least for now. The storm is expected to move westward and should reach the Caribbean Islands this weekend as a hurricane. The official forecast from the National Hurricane Center makes Dean a dangerous category 3 hurricane in the Caribbean Sea.

Those who have vacation plans in the Lesser Antilles, U.S. and/or British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are strongly urged to monitor the forecasts for Dean in the coming days.
