The center of the Karen was located more than 1000 miles east of the Windward Islands. It is moving steadily west-northwestward.

The forecast track takes the center of the storm northwestward through the open waters of tropical Atlantic through the start of the upcoming weekend. The official forecast makes this system a strong tropical storm over the next couple of days and it's not out of the question it could reach hurricane intensity.

The latest information on Karen and the rest of the tropics can be found in WCTV's Pinpoint Hurricane Center on our weather page.
