Are you interested in weather? (Who isn't - at least a LITTLE bit?)
Then come to the inaugural WeatherFest this Saturday at FSU.
When: Saturday, January 17, 2009 from 10am to 5pm
Where: FSU Main Campus at the Love Building (at the north end of campus, just west of the FSU Student Union - look for the "big white ball" on the roof of the building)
Come and meet the WCTV Pinpoint Weather Team of Mike McCall, Rob Nucatola and Sheena Samanipour!
The first ever local WeatherFest will be presented by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee and the Florida State Department of Meteorology.
In addition to the Pinpoint Weather Team, the following events are also planned:
--See the FSU Meteorology TV Studio and see how the WCTV meteorologists and FSU students use chromakey technology to present their weathercasts.
--Tour the National Weather Service Office
--Learn about weather balloons and how their data is used. (A balloon is tentatively scheduled to be launched early that afternoon.)
--Tour emergency support vehicles, like the Florida Division of Emergency Management's Mobile Command Vehicle.
--Exhibits on physical science and meteorology, including a hands-on electromagnetic display presented by the Mary Brogan Museum, and a Van De Graaf generator presented by the Challenger Learning Center.
--Safety presentations including the Weather Challenge Game
--Get your NOAA Weather Radio programmed (just make sure your radio has batteries in it)
--Plus other fun exhibits for the "weather nerd at heart" (like me - Mike McCall)
I hope to meet many of you there!
